Vastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of spatial harmony that aligns your home’s energy with the five natural elements and eight cardinal directions.
Even minor directional errors can disturb energy flow — affecting health, relationships, and prosperity.
Here are five common Vastu mistakes most homeowners make, and how to recognize them correctly.

1. Main Door in the Wrong Direction
The main entrance is the mouth of energy.
Entrances in the North, East, South or West invite progress and positivity.
Entrances in the South-West (SW) or South-South-West (SSW) zones, however, are highly restrictive and not meant for inflow. These directions signify stability — not entry — and should never be considered for entrances

Fix:
Avoid buying or designing homes with SW / SSW entrances.
If one exists, the only valid solution is a functional re-planning of the entrance through expert architectural guidance, not symbolic objects or colours.

2. Clutter in the North-East (Ishaan Kon)
The North-East is the most sacred corner of any property, representing clarity, purity, and divine connection.
Using it for storage or utilities blocks spiritual and creative flow.

Fix:
Keep the North-East open, clean, and well-lit.
Use this zone for a prayer space, meditation, or gentle water element. Avoid toilets, kitchen or heavy construction entirely.

3. Wrong Locker Placement (Due to Missing Grid Alignment)
Most people place their locker or safe in what they believe is the South-West or West, but without proper gridding, it actually falls in South-South-West (SSW) or West-North-West (WNW) — zones of loss or increased expenses.

Fix:
Always perform accurate directional gridding before deciding locker placement.
The true South-West (SW) provides stability — ideal for heavy storage, not for wealth storage.
The SSW (often mistaken for SW) leads to expenditure and wastage.
The WNW (often mistaken for West) causes fluctuating income or inconsistency.

The locker should ideally face North, governed by Lord Kuber, ensuring steady accumulation and flow of wealth.

4. Burner Placement in ESE Instead of South-East (Agneya Kon)
The South-East governs fire and transformation.
Due to incomplete or inaccurate directional marking, many kitchens or gas burners end up in the East-South-East (ESE) zone instead — a subtle but critical deviation that can lead to stress, conflicts, diabetes, blood pressure issues or overthinking.

Fix:
During layout design, ensure the main cooking burner lies within the true South-East (Agneya Kon).
Keep the ESE zone light and avoid fire activity there.
Proper gridding and compass calibration during planning prevent this common error.

5. Toilets in North-East or Brahmasthan (Center)
These two zones are the most sensitive energy points of any home.
The North-East governs divine inflow, while the Brahmasthan represents universal balance.
Toilets or heavy utilities in these areas disrupt the entire energy matrix and cannot be neutralized by symbolic remedies.

Fix:
Avoid such placements during construction.
If they exist, only architectural re-zoning or layout correction under expert guidance can reduce the impact.
